Keyhla Calderón Lugo is the Director of Marketing and Strategic Communications for Palo Alto College (PAC).
Before joining PAC, Keyhla served as the Director of Marketing and Communications for the Edgewood Independent School District.
Previously, Keyhla enjoyed a 16-year career in media and is an Emmy award-winning journalist. Keyhla started her TV career at KLDO Univision 27 in Laredo, Texas then joined the team at KWEX Univision 41 in San Antonio, Texas working as a weather anchor, reporter, and news anchor. Keyhla won an Emmy for leading the Únase al Reto – Join the Challenge Health Campaign - promoting healthy living among Hispanics and was nominated for other stories she produced.
She believes in the power of education which is why she loves working with students and empowering them to realize their strengths. Keyhla is a proud product of a bilingual-bicultural education as her family is from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon Mexico.
She credits much of her success to the many lessons learned from great teachers while attending public schools. Keyhla went to Westwood Terrace Elementary School, Anson Jones Middle School, and John Jay High School and graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Keyhla was selected as a Pillar of Character: Respect for the Northside Independent School District and was recognized as a Palo Alto College 30 Outstanding Alumni and Distinguished Alumni.
Keyhla is an active member and currently serves on the Board of the San Antonio Chapter of the Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas (HWNT), a member of the San Antonio Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), was a former member of the San Antonio Schools Public Relations Association (SASPRA). Keyhla also is a graduate of the Latina Leadership Institute (LLI6), a program of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
As a former musician, Keyhla is also a big supporter of the arts. Keyhla is married to a music educator and has two daughters Daniella and Karyna, ages 13 and 11.
