Erika Aránguiz Mourgues is a proud native of San Antonio, Texas. Raised in a Spanish-speaking household to immigrant parents, Erika became the first in her family to earn a college degree. From an early age, Erika’s family instilled in her the value of education, a strong work ethic, and serving others.
Erika graduated magna cum laude from Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina with a Bachelor of Applied Science and a minor in Biology. After honorable service with the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division, she returned to San Antonio and attended Texas A&M University-San Antonio, earning a Master of Science in Bilingual Education.
Currently, Erika is a fifth grade dual language teacher at Harlandale Independent School District. She is passionate about serving her community, partnering with parents to create a love of learning in all students and ensuring that all have equitable access to a quality education.
As an extension of her passion, Erika serves on the board of directors for the Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas- San Antonio Chapter, volunteering her time to promote the advancement of Latinas in public, corporate, and civic life. She is a graduate of the Latina Leadership Institute Cohort 6, a program of the SA Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Erika has been married to Diego Aránguiz Mourgues for 15 years and they are the proud parents of three- Diego Jr, Jenesys, and Daniela. With their continued love and support, Erika is able to realize her dreams and continue her work in education and the community. In her free time, she enjoys reading, running, and hosting family gatherings.
